The Rugby Super League is organized and sanctioned by USA Rugby as the
Premier Level of Men's Club competition in the USA.
The Rugby Super League manages and operated the participating member clubs
and operates within the guidelines of the United States of America Rugby
Football Union and is subject to the international laws of the game.
The 2010 season will showcase 14 teams competing in two
conferences with scheduled season play and three rounds of playoff games -
culminating in the Rugby Super League Championship match.
The competition runs from Mid March to early June of each
year
The Rugby Super League grew out of Rugby Super League
LLC and USA Premier Rugby LLC, entities which were designed to :
- Heighten the visibility of the sport throughout
the USA
- Enhance the competitive structure for the member
teams
- Create a higher level of club competition
- Create a consistent schedule of matches that can
be promoted on a national, regional and local basis
Other objectives include:
- The perpetuation of rugby as one of the national
games in the USA and North America
- To promote the common interests of its members
- To educate the public so that rugby gains popular
support and acceptance as wholesome entertainment
- To teach fair play and teamwork to young people
through the medium of rugby
- To promote civic pride and goodwill in and between
local communities in which member clubs are located
The Rugby Super League, in conjunction with USA Rugby
encourages league-wide sponsorship, licensing and broadcast agreements for the
league with the purpose of promoting products and services through the medium of
rugby - "The Global Game." |
